Samba runs on Windows?
Since when? And why would it even NEED to be on Windows, when Samba is meant to be a clone of Window's own implementation of the SMB protocol? Why would you pay for something then disable it only to use a clone that does the same exact thing that the thing you disabled does?

Windows has SMB built in. UNIX/Linux/BSD does not. That's why UNIX/Linux/BSD needs Samba and Windows does not.
