quatification and clarification...
First:
It?s not what I can't do and others can do. It is what the average computer user can't do that others who are used to and able to deal with Linux can do.

Second:
Oh, things like the simple task of installing and uninstalling software is still a joke in Linux. Even with the advance of package managers, it is still a laborious task to do something which should be incredibly simple.

Third:
Trying to figure out what programs will work on which particular distribution of Linux can be daunting.

Fourth:
As stated, its "Windows" (in the generic sense, not the Microsoft term) interface is still slow and cludgy.

Does that help you understand? Now, if you are used to/comfortable in Linux you will find these things to be silly and non-issues. However, give a Linux computer to your parent or some other person who is not familiar with computers and just walk away and they will be frustrated and in compu-pain.

As much as I would love to see Linux take more and more desktop market share, the truth is: it has a LONG way to go before it reaches that point. One of which is in its user interface. If it isn't as simple as point and click, the normal run-of-the-mill computer user won't want to use it.
