Sounds like you don't know what you are talking about
So, your evidence that Java is slow is your one experience of attemptimg to run a java program. How do you know it wasn't a crappy program and had nothing to do with Java itself.

I code in Java every day, I use a Java IDE (IntelliJ) written in Java and it performs very well. I have deployed many enterprise apps written in Java and my experience tells me Java is very robust and fast.

Your experience indicates to me that either your hardware is outdated or you are observing poorly written applications.
