Its good to know that...but....
If they ever hope to make a serious dent in the desktop market, they need to fix the speed issues...plain and simple. So hopefully this new Java will help with that.

Oh...and they need to keep working on making it more "average user friendly"
I mean I am finally to the point where I can do some things in Linux...but I am a technical person. However, I still think the average user would be lost and unable to deal with all the little "issues" in running Linux as their desktop OS.
