Linux is doing a lot more than cannibalize Unix and keep Windows out.
Linux has won the cluster market. Many of the highest volumn websites are using ONLY Linux, take Google for instance. Yes, they are replacing Unix in a lot of cases, but they are also keeping Microsoft out as well and replacing Microsoft. That is good for everybody but Microsoft. You forget that all of the Unix vendors make money on Hardware. They could get rid of proprietary Unix and all the R&D, and still make just as much money selling hardware with Linux. Of course they will have to compete straight up with Dell, which is great for customers.

And, maybe you did not notice that Linux is now over 4% on the desktop and growing.

Keep gloating . . . .
