The Siege
This is what annoys me about this - the unfairness of the situation. PeopleSoft has successfully and legitimately defended itself from a very undesirable takeover.

However, now Oracle can simply march around outside the castle walls, banging cans and making a lot of noise, scaring potential customers away. Oracle will simply use a campaign of FUD to starve PeopleSoft until they're too weak to fight.

This is all fine for shareholders - they're used to it and take these risks into consideration when purchasing stock. Who the real victims are in this case are the current PeopleSoft customers. They're the ones who will incur business disruptions, increased costs, lowered service levels. You may not have PeopleSoft in your own IT shop, but you may be an unwitting customer just the same. Your federal government is a customer, along with a good portion of state governments.

I'm not against profits, but they shouldn't come at the expense of government coffers.
