No offshoring will hurt just as much
It's a real stuck between a rock and hard place.

With globalization you have to compete. Being protectionist gives a short term gain before a drastic fall which makes everyone poor. While competing has short term losses before slight increases are seen and in theory those increase keep growing.

Now this what economists claim. But I think I can see what they are saying.

If you choose to protectionist you keep the high paying jobs but eventually the employers are run out of business. In this case workers still lose thier jobs and the employers is also broke.

On the otherside you can offshore you jobs to compete globally and workers lose thier jobs but the employer is still in business.

The only part I find hard to see is where these gains are. I mean eventually I can see the gains but that's long way off. What do out of work people do in the mean time?
