Whats The Poblem?
basically this artical says that msn messenger will soon enable peer to peer music sharing right? so if you think about it this is the bestest news the record industry has ever had if they actually thought about it.

microsoft is a multi billion dollar corporation that has monopolised the software market for decades and made tonnes of profit in the process. when a company like napster offers free music they are a small company with very little cash flow napster was writen by a guy in his bedroom who just wanted to share his music with everyone.

but microsoft is a huge worldwide corporate symbal it can afford to pay out huge amounts of cash per year to compensate the record industry for any financial loss, even if that was a few meesily million per annum. to microsoft thats small change. so this is anj opportunity for the record industry to cash in.

ok microsoft might not want to offer it for free at first if theyve gotta pay the record industry for doing it but they could start by only adding the messenger music sharing abilities into msn premium/plus software and raise subscription costs for msn premium/plus to cover the extra costs and over time extend it to msn messenger for free, its just an idea but worth mentioning anyways, either way there is a possibility here for both microsoft and the record industry to profit from this venture. and if they cant work together then tough the record industry will never be successful in any lawsuite against microsoft so microsoft can just go ahead with the record industries backing and no one will be able to stop them.
