Actually
a lot of these folks were going to follow the rest of the sheeple and buy into WinXP, but many, doing research on thier own, found that the hassle of doing so was not worth the initial and long term cost. So they would have stayed on thier older boxes until they died completly, yes. But someone told them about me and what I did for a local small business... I get a phone call, have to answer a lot of question... you know the drill. Now these people are happy so they tell thier friends and fellow small business compadres. And the cycle is the same.

A lot of the small shops that are starting to move, are doing so because the hardware they have is starting to die. Some are moving because applications they have updated no longer run on thier systems. There are many reasons. But these people are part of the market, but they are the quiet part. The part that never really seems to be that important because of thier total impact on the bottom line of the bigger fish.

Reallity is these people do have an impact, and they are also wise enough to maximize the money they invested in thier software and hardware. Unlike the Redmondites, people do not need the latest and greatest. But when support is threatened to be removed or systems are finally starting to die, then it's time to modernize and start the cycle all over again.
