Yah - and your point is exactly?
Like PS gives a rats butt about development outside of PS (they don't. If it ain't theirs they don't wanna hear about it).

Point being made is - who is better off in the long run? Someone who spends time learning and developing in PCode and SQR? Or in Java and P/L SQL? And where are there going to be more job openings in the future? And where is there going to be larger job growth? And resources?

Want to find a book on writing SQR? There is about 2 out there - for PS version 7 - and with current PS release being 8.8 - boy that is a hot hot ticket in terms of sales, huh? How many on Java? Want to find a book on PCode - not a self published job but from a house like O'Reilly? Good luck. P/L SQL - buy them by the case.

Wanna put on your resume that you write SQR reports? Cooool - cause thats job number one that gets outsourced to India. Same for PCode.

This was not a shill for Oracle - agreed that they can't create an applications platform so they are doing the next best thing and buying one. But at least the knowledge that will be needed to utilize the tools will HOPEFULLY - don't read this as WILL - be more transferrable than with PS.
