This could be only the latest in a loss of faith in Microsoft.
Based upon the article here, you have 60 countries requesting to see the source for Microsoft Office (which along with Windows accounts for some 70% of Microsoft?s yearly revenues). In the last couple of months there have been articles saying that various governments are looking to migrate away from Windows (Brazil, Munich, ?). In a article Persian Journal September 20, 2004 (http://www.iranian.ws/iran_news/publish/article_3822.shtml) we have yet another country that is concerned with Microsoft?s security.

I am sure someone will dismiss this as minor, after all we are only talking about Europe, China, Brazil, Iran, ? I am not sure how many of the posters ere actually do any international business, but there are ramifications if they decide that Microsoft products (specifically Office) are too insecure to use for government use.

No you can't change it, that's what open source is for.  No_Ax_to_Grind | 09/20/04
That is not why they are showing the code!  B.O.F.H. | 09/20/04
True. So why do they want to see the code?  Anton Philidor | 09/20/04
