Free Software Is Killing Them
Oracle has been desperately flailing to get into the apps biz for years. Why? Postgresql, Mysql and MSDE work just fine thank you very much for very large database sets in highly active situations. We've been running all of Journyx's hosted sites on Postgresql for 8 years now with no problems and our subscriber base grows every month. So now Larry has destroyed two companies by buying Peoplesoft. I wouldn't buy ORCL now if you set my hair on fire. Free software like Python, Postgresql, Apache, Linux and Journyx are putting nails in the big vendors coffins relentlessly every day. At least IBM had the sense to jump on the bandwagon.
