Re: You lost me
"I honestly don't know what you're referring to. Can you elaborate further?"
(regarding my nickname)

Okay. No_Ax (along with many others) has an image of Linux supporters as fanatical zealots who hate MS and love Linux with religious fervor. This is not totally unjustified. You may not have realized this, but you have helped to create that image. I used the nickname "Linux_developer" to show the world that not every Linux supporter looks like that. (Oh, and I am a real Linux developer. ;-))

I have never before openly confronted a poster in the way that I did now. This is because you have been the biggest inhibitor of my goal on these forums (to promote thought and intelligent discussion). As a side note, I said intelligent discussion, not just discussion.

"Actually I have not been doing that. Can you point to some posts (current ones, not ones from six months ago) where I display this behavior? What have I said that's so offensive? Show me where I "ripped someone to shreds" merely for not agreeing with what I've said?"

Here are a few. The oldest one there is less than 2 months old.

I'm not saying you should drop your opinions and believe everything I believe, but please just try to keep a cool head and present your posts in a polite, considerate way. It'll make this forum a better place, and your arguments much more persuasive. And you won't get banned!

"So I ask: what are you doing here? You're certainly not promoting anything thought-provoking or relevant in my mind. In fact, you now seem to be this person that you claim to detest. You are attacking me (obviously it seems because of a chip you've kept on your shoulder from arguing with Bobby in the past), and yet I have done nothing to you. Care to answer my accusation?.."

I looked back on your Bobby posts, and you really didn't sound any different back then. It's not so much about what you have done to me, as what you have done to this whole forum. (I understand that you're not the only one, but you're the most prominent.)

I'm not perfect either. One mistake I have consistantly made in the past is lashing out at or ridiculing trolls without even making any good point. I'm not trying to do that now; I just want to humbly ask you to be considerate of others as you write your posts. It'll do so much good to your cause, and to the atmosphere of the forum. This can't sound too strange coming from me; you and I share a lot of opinions. But let's try to change the atmosphere of this forum from "flame, flame, flame" more towards "intelligent thought and discussion". Do you agree?
