That's a pretty one-sided argument!
Okay, let's look at this straight. Here we go:

"There's no leadership."

Well, there's Linus. He's in charge of Linux kernel development. Then, all of the big distros have leadership. It's just that there's no single person/company that reigns over all the distros.

"There's no marketing strategy."

This is an interesting point. Our main marketing strategy is making a better OS. For the most part, we're not interested in advertising. So you'll never see "The TCO of Windows Server is 800,000 times more than that of Linux", or "Get famous by using Linux on your server". However, you can't deny that Novell has got marketing strategies!

"The interface is difficult for the average person."

Well guess what? I'm a user interface designer! Yep, that's what kind of a linux_developer I am. Linux on the desktop is a pretty new thing, and many developers, including myself, are working to make the UI as easy as possible for the average user. Have you tried out Xandros Desktop 2, Lycoris Desktop/LX 1.4, or Linspire? Those operating systems are Linux-based, and they have been proven to work for many "average users". Just one year ago, what you said would have been true. But Linux is by far the fastest growing desktop OS. Just think what the user experience will be like a year from now!

"For the most part, the general public doesn't give a [censored]."

Actually, more and more end users are taking interest in desktop Linux. Linux is already the most popular OS for server and HPC use, and it's heading that direction in the desktop realm as well.

"Generally speaking, people are happy with Microsoft."

The reason why most MS customers switch to OSS is because they are not happy with Microsoft. This is happening more and more. Listen, MS does not believe what you just said. If they did, they'd be slaughtered already.

"Linux as it exists today will NEVER dominate the market."

It's heading more and more in that direction. What's the catch?

"That's why all of you overweight, doughnut eating, open-source boneheads should use the time you're wasting writing Linux code on something more productive, like macromere or doing sit-ups."

Why, I think you've just converted me over to your side! A wonderful comment like that is sure to make anyone agree with you.
