They will LOSE this bloodbath
While M$ may be getting a little more perceptive on how to attack its nonsense competition, they're "get cool" propaganda won't work. M$ just isn't cool anymore. They represent non-choice. Forever. M$ is always a quicksand.."come join us, come to the light". Why not beat linux on merit? Surely with all that money Microsoft could wage a high end war..with their programmers, no? Why not go that "attack" route? Seems to make better sense to me. Revamp IE, restructure Windows, get rid of all the co-mingling, etc. It will all be done tomorrow. What I think is so sad about Microsoft is that if they just gave up their all-M$ world tomorrow, this whole WWIII would be over. They are so ubiquitous at this point, it would be hard for them to just disappear. If they embraced everyone else, everyone else would pretty much embrace them. And they would keep their position. But instead they always play dirty, and thus ensure that everyone will do everything in their power to unseat them.
