In their comparison...
...will they include that RedHat supports the OS and the majority of the third party created apps running on top while MS doesn't?

As the students and developers bit, it isn't about "coolness." We need to get work done and Linux provides an EXCELLENT stable development and more importantly learning environment. Our CS professors don't allow anything but Unix systems for development and the classes specifically support RedHat (before Fedora Core). Nearly all the CS computer clusters are either Linux or dual boot Windows 2000.

In our case it isn't about money. Infact, the school provides Microsoft software to all students for no cost. Come up with an OS that makes it difficult for the unpredictable CS student to wipe out and then they might talk.
