every distro comes with the source. This is from my unaltered (by me) kernel as shipped by SuSE:

basshome:~ # cat /var/log/messages | grep mppe
Sep 13 08:58:10 bass kernel: ppp_mppe: module license 'BSD without advertisement clause' taints kernel.

taints, unclean whatever... you get the general idea.
