MS is hardly in world of hurt
How long did it take for 2.6 to come out? 2.4 came out in, what was it, 1999? Not sure myself as I was waiting for it, but not marking the calendar. So Longhorn, Shorthorn or whatever people end up coming out in 2007 instead of 2006 or 2005, so what negative impact is that going to have on my life or anyone that uses Windows? None. The average enduer still has an easier time operation MS Windows than they do Linux. Most of the apps that come with Windows work better than most of the apps that I use with Linux *out of the box*, Linux distro vendors have some serious QA issues that they still have not dealt with. Why? Because most of the enduser population using Linux are geeks themselves and quite happy to whip out the debugging tools and fix it themselves so RedHat, SuSE or whoever don't concern themselves with it as much as they should. MS on the other hand does not have that options as they don't ship the source.

Linux may be making dents in MS's plan for world server domination, but Linux is no danger to MS's cash cow, the enduser on the desktop.

The article had the usual ZDNet slant and that does not surprise me either. Why not? Because they are quickly becoming the National Enquirer of the tech rag industry. They sell ads, rumors and headlines, not useful information.
