Too Bad Tivo .
Get in line Tivo . Get in line consumer . Get in line film studios .

Would be nice to have an expansion of this story on the part of what is available to 'everybody . Considering all of the different conduits to see movies . Considering all the ways to purchase them - rent , buy . Considering the different formats, players, connection options .

Just like Microsoft though , it isn't 'all studios . Just cant be . When a movie is released the distribution is decided long before production,or manufacturing of it takes place. 'Liscencing comes 'long after these decisions are made .

From a studio viewpoint, dont believe they have a product in digital form to : 'rent, sell,or 'licence. Because the form in wich it takes place for 'digital , isn't something that has been a technical specification in past practices.

For now the relationship of film, studios, is usually the question of the same old stuff - theatres, and tv, and dvd/video manufacture. The scale, business structure, is in place for them . The 'internet hasn't been a consideration when the distribution ideas are first brought forth. Even though some of the ideas might be fairly appealing on scale for the decisions of distribution.

A phonograph, was a product wich reached its first apearance to the person of wich was to hold the manufacturers product. The DVD to VCR to TV is much the same - the end result product was a scale wich was preceeded by a technological specification , wich was 'standard. Once that was detailed the products became ubiquitous. So it wasn't all studios decision making. Somebody took the risk, and those decisions created the product produced.

Movies are a fledgling on a chronological time scale anyway. Black and white movies before the early 60s,Color etc , and now the new TV sets with 'more .. Least thats what I figure the Hi-definition stuff is about more lines for picture, more lines for signaling , more 'information for each trip along the way.

However so far besides the fact of a holywood studio 'ripping, burning, and streaming its own copyrighted stuff via an easily accesible link, and choice , computers tv sets, dvds, stereos and the like ,are just getting monkeyed with as far as that 'standard .

A single studio with rights to its own flicks, say 'Captitol 'rips, and starts its own 'internet show. Hello the technology is already there . Does somebody have to invent the gas station again.?

And what about owning' digital copyrighted works,in there 'purchased form, - hello the seller decides what they want to create of 'featureset within that situation.

But they need a standard. Since 'owning wealth in United States is correct way to do business. Having it for sale, and distribution is as well a way to a little pride as far as all is concerned. Copyright(s),have little to do with the product. The premise is different in this stead. If you want to create billions in new capital then dump the liscences altogether. Put the consumers name onto their own digital download, like some school kid recognizing their own lunchbox. Make them moveable as a digital form - and stay out of our personal lives. Stay out of our living rooms with your tabulating accountant statistics.

Microsoft coined the phrase 'end-user. So what . Really 'studios could make some money . Share some wealth give out some assets in the mean time.

By the way, howbout an open source DVD decoder. They should be shouting discrimination by now. They got the votes for ya I think. Its not all studios though. May be this studio,or that studio for now . But a standard is needed before the 'product makes function of artistic creation.

I got to tell you though,if you think a salesman get a sit on my toilet,or anybody elses for that matter . ....

-just talking.
