spaghetti code?!?
from what i've heard on a lot of sites, alot of the problem with longhorn isnt just winfs - alot of it is stuff bein rewritten. microsoft are takin out alot of compatibility, because the code makin windows compatible is the same code causin it the problems - u just av 2 look at win9x to see that. Ok, maybe a lot of it is based on Windows XP, but alot of code is still being replaced. And longhorn is pretty good now, or was with the latest build I saw - and that was quite a while ago. Yeah, it was only beta, but it performed quite well - not well enough to replace me current OS yet, but still, well enough to be used. It looks good, and a hell of a lot of tasks have become easier. And they've balanced it too - alot of the wizards can be skipped so you can do it your own way if you know what you're doing. OK, there are some changes I ain't keen on, but I'm sure I'll find something that'll switch bits off, but the point is, generally, it makes your life a hell of a lot easier. Things are getting better as far as I'm concerned - maybe there is outdated code in there, but there is new code being added to make life easier. If you're worried about new code being added to an already tangled web of code, you try running earlier versions of windows, such as WinNT 3, 3.51 or 4? I doubt you could put up with it now you're used to the features and stability that the new operating systems have, even if that isn't all that great - its a damn sight better than what already exists!
