WinFS fully in Windows after Longhorn

Here's the quote I was relying on:

But the big breakthrough, where you get those things brought together, will ship first off-cycle but then come back around and be built into the next OS release.


Given that he's talking about a 2 year cycle for new Windows versions, I'm thinking "the next OS release" means 2008 or (since he apparently intends Longhorn for late in '06) maybe 2009.

WinFS will be available sooner, to be added into Longhorn, but for "the big breakthrough" I think the later date is more accurate. Which still leaves my issue of whether Longhorn will be considered an interim release.
