So why didn't you....
... go to the local sheriff in town, and tell him that you were forced to buy it at gunpoint? Apparently you are the only person in the world that was kidnapped only to be made to purchase a particular OS.

I read a few posts above that OS/2 was a "superior" product that was run out of business by MS "predatory practices". Of course, were I to ask for specifics I doubt that anyone could actually find any facts. How about this scenario then:

OS/2 was only sold bundled on IBM PC's (you could buy it separately, but back then, why on earth would you?). Their PC's were more expensive and featured something called a "micro channel" architecture. None of the add-on hardware manufacturers like it, and so it was not adopted by them in any quantity. So, shortly after introduction of this line of hardware, IBM went almost out of business.

So the moral of the story is, did OS/2 get killed by MS or by consumers?
