Umm... Sam... about that link.
I've posted that link about six times now? Did you perchance repost it back to me from one of mine own posts to this article? Don't fret. It happens.

The problem with that link is that it's a summary of the license. The real legalistic license is supposed to be here:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/odcXMLRef/html/odcXMLRefLegalNotice.asp?frame=true

as is indicated on the page to which we have both linked.

Unfortunately, the linked-to page currently displays a generic "404 - not found" error, which means that someone at Microsft has removed the <ocument. No, the synopsis is not the total license, because the synopsis points to a virtual page two. Both are part of the total license. In effect, that means, that right now we would be agreeing to a synopsis without being able to read the fine print.

Without that fine print we can make some very unfounded assumptions about the contents. Both on the pro-Microsoft and pro-Open Standards side. That was what I conveyed to Bit.
