I like the idea.
I'd love to gain back all the space my book collection takes up. But until 1) the ebooks can be comfortably read while lying in bed on a reasonably priced device, 2) I can actually purchase the books I like reasonably cheaply, and 3) I can by them in cash without providing any personal information at all, then I'll never be on board.

#3 is the same reason I don't by any Linux games, despite the fact I'm not running Windows at all at home any more.
