In praise of Jim Baen
Go immediately to baen.com - Jim Baen is a publisher who has convinced his authors to give away some of their books for free in many ebook formats. He also sells all his new releases over the web very inexpensively.

I have a Toshiba e805 with about 100 books loaded on it. To load a book in MS Reader takes about 10 seconds to start, but turning pages is easy and natural, and I can do it in a darkened room or airplane late at night.
