Corps using MS WMV because of quality and consumer
benefit or because it's tied to the MS hegemony and has the advantage and almost automatic chance of success due to the Windows "monopoly"?

I don't mind working together as long as it's ethical, benefits the consumer as well as the corporations and doesn't enhance or further unfairly tilt the competitive playing field.

So... what is your answer as to why all these companies have jumped on the MS bandwagon with WMV? Superior quality (cough)? Automatic success? Love of the consumer? What... ???

Apparently Napster (Roxio) can afford such generous (cheap) on-line music agreements (pushing WMA) with various universities because it has a "sugar daddy" partner backing it up.

Three guesses who it is and the 1st two don't count....

OK, it's Microsoft. (according to a recent Wired article)
