Waste of time...
A device which only plays Microsoft files will sell, like, zero units.

And if your device can play other formats then why let Microsoft own your music? People will surely buy the non-DRM versions whenever possible.

Microsoft has missed this boat. MP3 and DivX is king and there's not much they can do about it. I pity the porr idiots who waste money on this.
