Are these searches truly warranted?
I have used P2P file sharing networks before on many occation to aquire many different type of files for many different reasons.

Just because I swap a file on a P2P network, it doesn't mean that I have done anything wrong.

First of all, did my file swapping violate a copyright? Not if 1) the file in qiestion did not contain any copyrighted material or 2) I had permision of the copyright owner or 3) I swapped the file, found out it was copyrighted and promptly deleted it or 4) used the file in accordance with fair usage laws.

I am sure that their are other cases in which I would not be liable. I can tell you right now that I downloaded in excess of 100 files and I am in violation of zero (0) copyrights.

If the Feds (Justice Dept., whoever) was to search my HDD they would find nothing. But under what ccircumstances do they have just cause or reasonable suspision to search my HDD? My use of P2P does not qualify (and the Supreme Court agreed in a recent ruling) so they need evidence of illegal use before they can search.

Its like saying, "You have a draft account at a bank so you might be involved in money laundering so now we will search your house."

Ridiculous and unconstitutional and against the Supreme court. So I must assume that the story is incomplete and lacking the part of "just cause" or "reasonable suspision."
