MS always lags tech, copying Technology..
Sun once again is defining the computing standards that MS has always been lacking in. Sun created NFS, founder wrote BSD, created Diffie/Hoffman encoding, empl. created LDAP, created Java, created NIS/+, ..., has the #1 rated Unix by Gartner (Solaris), has shipped nearly 500 Million of these Java cards, leads the Liberty Alliance on Security specs for Amex/Visa.. Sun also anounced the world's largest Linux deal with the China Education ministry .. to install upto 1 Million copies of Sun's Java Desktop Environment (with StarOffice).. and up to 400+ Million in the future.. the overnight Linux desktop leader is now Sun.
While MS always emulates sucess (NT tried to be Unix, adding unix tools FTP/telnet/netstat/....). MS is simply a monopoly that has had it's day in the spotlight due to good legal contracts in the PC infancy that locked vendors into placing MS Win on PC's sold, cheaper to include than to exclude (have to pay MS more without..). MS is not growing any time quickly, with .NET a futile attempt to 'lock' in the PC world, capturing your PC configs on XP.. and shipping all that data back to MS upon reg/updates.... for MS to sell for marketing purposes... (what you don't know would surprise you ..). You should know your technology before sticking up for your stock portfolio.
