- This is just "Business as it has ALWAYS been"
-
At it's core buisness is the perfect model of nature.."Survival of the fitest" Good, evil..right, wrong..loyalty to one's nation/people, honest, humanity..man's idealistic concepts do NOT apply. Period..end of story.
Buisness will go where the money "IS" and where the costs are lower. It will dump poison in the air if it is legal...and if the risks of being caught and punished are low continue to do so even if it is illegal. (countless examples of said right here in AMERICAN both past and present) If the cost vs profit risks are low it will make bad..even dangerous products and flood the market with said. (Again constant examples in history and some we have yet to learn of) It will even kill it's own employees (Cogs) weather it be directly from poisons or dangerous work conditions to indirectly from over work/stress and unhealthy work conditions (The deadly combination) For in the end..cogs are very replacable. (They breed like rabbits)
Buisness is not MORAL, nor CARING (Unless there is a buck to be made in the moral, caring arena) Otherwise business at best will give lip service to morals and caring..do a couple feel good commercials and donate some tax deductable money to a cause (THAT does not interfere with their profit machine) Ie you won't find KFC donating money to PETA...hee hee hee (not a big fan of PETA myself..love meat!)
That is why I always find the Republican worship of business a but off putting. Not that I think business is EVIL mind you...It is in the end a creature that works on one basic pricipal as I've said before..Survival of the Fitest. I just don't see business as some sort of heroic icon to be worshiped and followed. After all no business has ever given a job to someone out of charity. Buisness's hire because they have a need for people to continue to generate the all mighty dollar. If buisness could do this generation of revenue without people..it would in a heart beat. So I find people/organizations that praise buisness to be suspect. Business is NOT evil in my eyes...but it is also far from GOOD.
That is why we need a strong central government by the people and FOR the people. To keep buisness in check. Like it or not it is highly unlikely that business will ever out of the kindness of it's heart or the humanity that flows through it's corporate veins check itself for the good of it's workers..and community, or nation in general. That is NOT the function of business. That my friends is up to US!
