While the anti-MS railing does get quite old, I'm dismayed at the attitude presented towards this poster. He's not happy with something, he speaks up about it, and he's told 'deal with it' and 'live with it'?

I mean really, is anyone perfectly happy with the way things are? Will simply dealing with the status quo bring about any improvement?

He's admitted he's hardly a power user. Yes, I know some of you yearn for the days when computers were mysterious and archaic machines and you were a god if you understood them. Well, guess what? They've become just a little more commonplace. It's to the point where you have to know something about computers in order to do nearly anything anymore.

Try to come down off the elitist viewpoint for just a sec and look at things from the point of the everyday non-power user. There *are* security issues with Windows. SP2 is not going to make that all go away. My clients are starting to ask me about OSX and Linux platforms because, uninitiated as they are, they get the idea that running a Microsoft platform means more work, more vigilance, and bottom line, more risk.

The point this guy is trying to make is that he shouldn't have to be a computer expert in order to keep his system reasonably secure. And I happen to think that's a pretty valid way of looking at things.
