Kind of a stupid assumption
on your part, given my post, but the reality is that anyone who doesn't need the questionable advice of the average stockbroker doesn't need to pay the few hundred dollars required by those brokers to simply buy or sell a block of stock. Rather the on-line investor can usually transact for less than $10 with the same security and dispatch as offered by the so-called "full service broker". A similar phenomenon is occurring in the real estate marketing areas. People are no longer restricted by some form of gatekeeper in obtaining goods or services, whether they be stock trades or music CDs.

That's the future of the business. You can choose to swim upstream until you finally die, but it's easier and more fruitful to go with the flow.
