The man in the middle
is going away in a lot of places. When people are offered direct access to goods, services, and information, a lot of enthusiasm is generated and quite a few people opt for the direct access. P2P for music is no different than playing one's own stockbroke on eTrade or making an airline reservation on Orbitz.

We are learning how to save mnney the old-fashioned way, i.e. by cutting out the middle man. The middle men like the RIAA members complain loudly and try to influence the passing of laws that legislate their right to collect money from the consumer, but such actions have always been doomed sooner or later to rejection.
