The joke is on you, Jason. You obviously have no idea of the business model being used. I don't think the "journalist" does either, especially that quote of yours. Have you not noticed boxed sets of SuSE, Red Hat, Mandrake etc for sale
You've always paid for support from these companies if wanted it. They don't sell linux, they sell services, support, specialised proprietory addons and charged for packaging a distribution.
