Quote: On desktops, Windows is even more dominant, with 90 percent of computers running it. This overwhelming control of the desktop won't be easily lost to Linux, said Chew of IDC.
This is highly debateble, as things stand right now.
With China's government pushing OS,
East Asia pushing, and tooooo many others pushing like hell, as if their life depends on it, this could change in as little as 2 years.
Also, the popular word is---popular---.
Windows is popular.
Sorry, popular assumes that you had a choice, and you choose A or B.
This is not the case, and since about 80% of the desktop world ( homeusers )runs pirated software, these are not really Loyal followers and it only takes a good threat from government bodies, and they will change to open source.
You work out how many there are !!!!
And then the word -dominant- will not look the same.
(0 percent of the desktop has windows, yes, but only 1/3 of that is paid for ( licenced )
The other 2/3 could change camps easely
I just wrote this to make some people thinking( those who are quick to give out percentages of everything) - Posted by: eletonservice@... Posted on: 11/14/03 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
