Have to be cruel to be kind
You shouldn't want to get into the IT world, and no one that opens a door for you is doing you a favor. It is in decline and while it may soon have an upward blip for a short while, the long term trend is down, down, down. Get out now before you compound your bad investment. (It isn't really all that bad. Few work in fields their degree is in.)
