The old fashioned way
Find a need and fill it was the marketing advice from long ago. If you can solve somebody's problem, you can get them to pay you based on how big of a problem is being solved. The google guys are going to get paid a couple of billion bucks for being able to search the internet in a more useful way than the next guy and also for being able to similarly search a company's own intranet.

Bill Gates got paid a huge amount of money for providing a comprehensive OS platform to the companies that wanted to clone the IBM PC.

Ellison got his billions for making a better database manager than the rest.

McNeely got his for making up jokes about Bill Gates.
