Phantasms
Complete and utter Male Bovine Excreta. DRM is a solution in search of a problem.

In contrast to all of the speculation flying around in the article, you can go to a publisher (http://www.baen.com) which has been publishing books on the Web without any copy protection whatever for several years.

Guess what? The publisher and the authors are making money hand over fist. It seems that their readers appreciate being treated with respect and respond with money (I know they have a lot of mine!) They even publish a long list of books totally free, and have the hard numbers to show that whenever they put up a book for free download the hard-copy sales increase.

This isn't speculation or ideology-driven fantasy. This is an established, successful publisher with hard numbers on revenues correlated to experiments in unrestricted electronic publication.

Check out the Baen Free Library for more, and remember that Baen, Flint, and the rest make their livings from writing and publishing. They are genuinely putting their money where their mouths are.
