XML is still not necessary
All you are doing is adding another and unnecessary layer to the process. It is always possible to extract the schema of the target database from the database itself from the system tables. This will always be correct.

SQL can handle the data transformation perfectly correctly without recourse to other methods.

Using XML not only have you taken another copy of the data (and we are already duplicating it once because of the transfer from one database to another) but also copying the metadata. We now have three copies to keep in step instead of two.

Therefore, I see only disadvantages to using XML for database to database transfer. XML is therefore redundant and indeed harmful in this context.
