xShakes: great point! You pointed out the inherent limitation of the web from a physical infrastructure perspective. Absolutely correct!
However, these physical limiations can be overcome by smart software. The point of the article is to argue that you can potentially build and deploy "web applications" that are as functional as "thick client" applications, if you architect your software to get around the hardware problems. Applications like iTunes and Groove are good examples.
