Yet another 'portal' site...brilliant
"a source of information for digital music"?!? How useless. What a waste of money and resources. Spend your money more wisely...make the site something different and something special. Don't waste your efforts on a "me-too" portal site.

Hint: you said yourself what made MP3.com special...

"MP3.com was once the standard-bearer for digital visionaries looking to the Internet to undermine the power of the traditional music business. By offering free online storage space and access to any band, signed or not"

Even under the Vivendi model, it still provided a great way to sample music from indie and unsigned artists legitimately as well as from some established artists.

Well, I guess Vivendi and the other RIAA companies will be happy about you turning it into a portal site. Cutting off an access point for indie artists will help them boost the market for the Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and Clay Aikens of the world.
