It's not just for blogs
Rather than go vanilla news sites like MSN and Yahoo, which pretty much get everything they use from the Associated Press, I use bookmark several RSS pages and use the RSS reader plugin for Firefox to get my news. There's a whole list of them here:

http://customwire.ap.org/lineups/index.html

That way I can single in on the subjects I'm interested in.

Plus I also use the one for ZDNet nowadays rather than navigate my way to the home page. I seen some for blogs too, like I know the Gentoo-Portage site has one for security notices, but I don't care for those so much, especially since all the entries generally are on the same web page. You don't need RSS when scrolling your mouse wheel can accomplish the same task.
