Nothing illegal about exclusive contracts, unless of course you have already been declared a monopoly. Thus prior to any such findings by a court of law (not public opinion) is perfectly legal.

..and unethically maintained....

Are you suggesting the ethical thing to do is to give up marketshare to your competitors?
All companies are unethical then.

..ethics is a subjective attribute...
