Oh it's not that bad: Been there done that twice. Yeah it's a pain in the you know where but it's not that hard. I mean you don't have work and you aren't finding any. As time moves on you take those meaningless labour jobs to make ends meet you skills slowly degrade.

Why not take out a student loan and go back to school. Lets say you programmer out of work with experience designing desktop apps. Why not go back to school and get some video game programming. That's a secure job, secure from outsourcing offshore. Some East Indian offshoring company isn't going be able to write video game for the US market. It would be like East Indians music over taking US music. Just not going to happen.

Now one problem. Universities and colleges start at the foundation. What's a out of work IT guy supposed to do, take computer basics 101 again just to move into a new field. The education systems need to change and adapt to the market at hand. They want more computer science students then setting up courses where a people with 10+ years of experience can jump and leaning with out taking the filler and basic classes.
