It's all about semantics isn't it?
I mean lets get real, trademark is a semantic argument at best.

Semantic defined as a noun: "The study of the relationships between various signs and symbols and what they represent."

As you often accuse me of, I think your being hypocritical Arguing that MS is "evil" and "greedy" for trying to protect the Windows trademark, while cheering on Linus T. in his efforts is, well, you know.

Look tic, I have talked with you many times and I KNOW you aren't naive enough to believe Lindows picked such a name with no ill intentions. They wanted to ride the MS/Windows trademark/name, they wanted cheap publicity, and they wanted their names in headlines on ZDNet all the time. These people set out to beat the system from day one, and to use it to get what they wanted at Microsoft's expense.

You say I am a MS supporter, well maybe a little. But when I see people like yourself cheer on this type of behavior against ANYONE it bothers me deeply. There appears to be a great deal of situational ethics being applied at all levels, pirating of content is fine because, well the other guy (content owner) is guilty of something in my opinion. Allowing Lindows to pull the crap they did because, well it's MS and they *deserve* it. We hate patents but Eolas is ok because it'll hurt MS, but my gawd how horrible the one-click patent was.

These arguments about "evil" companies is so much trash it's sickening. People fail to grasp the concept that "good" starts with each and every one of us. You know, things like NOT pirating, things like NOT being a closed minded zealot, things like trying to be fair and objective. I'm sorry, you can split as fine a legal definition as you want but in my eyes I see two entities trying to protect something they value highly and one is being jeered while the other cheered.

But then the thing is, you got to let a little "good" in to be fair about it and most don't seem to be up to it here...
