Take it easy, the term "digital divide" can mean different things to different people. whatis.com is a dictionary, and a dictionary only gives the basic, everyday idea of what a word or term means; Dictionaries don't typically cover all the nuances and connotations of their entries, especially not for a term like this which isn't a general, common English word.

"Digital divide" is similar to "generation gap": It refers to a cultural separation between different classes of people. Just as the younger generation sometimes has trouble relating to the older generation (and vice versa), so do the digerati sometimes have trouble getting in touch with less technology-oriented people. If you're a twentysomething hacker who surfs the Web for 10 hours a day, would you have much common ground with an octogenarian grandmother who lives on a farm and spends most of her day knitting?

That's the digital divide.

(Something tells me that I've just fed the troll, but oh well, I don't really care.)
