Good question
Who knows what the market will do. Linux is getting a lot easier to use, but I still don't think its for the millions of computer illeritates out there. Forget the hardware incompatibilities for a second, those could all be fixed if there was a demand. But Linux still isn't that easy to use. You still have to do everything else. Last night I'm sitting there installing things and trying to get Cedega to run well and all of these other things, and it leaves one with a appreciate of how easy Windows does things for you. I wouldn't trade Linux for Windows anyday, but it sure isn't because of ease of use. Installing programs is usually a hassle. Every distrubtion has their own package installer, and sometimes you have to compile from source. Upgrading Kernels can be a nightmare. I spent 2 days trying to go from 2.4 to 2.6, and a lot of people asked me "thats all it took you?"

Without a doubt it has more to go. But so does Windows and its flaws. So your exactly right, what will happen to this market?
