Do a little research yourself
http://twiki.iwethey.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SCOvsIBMNovellLetters

Do some research. SCO has been assigned the licensing business. SCO has the source code to System V, and the rights to license it. For this privilege they pay a 95% royalty to Novell, who in turn owns the copyrights to the UNIX source. Although SCO states that they dispute that Novell owns said copyrights, SCO themselves made several requests to Novell before the IBM lawsuit for assignment of those copyrights. Even *SCO* recognizes that they don't have them.

The UNIX specification and name are owned, copyrighted, trademarked by the Open Group. SCO is probably going to get smacked around for trying to use the name "UNIX System Labs", as that violates the Open Group license.

As for the source code - There probably are some similarities to be found. This, too, has been explained to death. Probably for the fact that (a) The UNIX specification is open and has been published in print, (b) Legacy UNIX has been released under a BSD-style license by SCO, (c) it's already well-established that through System IV, the majority of the codebase was in fact lifted from BSD. USL (AT&T) was suing BSDi, Novell bought out USL, and pretty much settled because the court hinted (very strongly) that USL was going to lose. Big.

If you spent some time searching around Google, you might actually be able to do some research and sound intelligent. As for The SCO Group winning their case - I highly doubt it. Their own UNIX implementations suck. They're not progressing the core UNIX codebase at all. They're suing their own customers, and coming off like jackasses to the rest of the world. I doubt if they'll exist much beyond two years, other than as a tall-tale to tell about in the history of UNIX.
