First, the number is 1.5 million. Secondly, this still doesn't replace the 2.6 million jobs lost. Third, obviously you don't follow economic news all that well, since it was in the news a few weeks ago that while no one was taking anything back per se, it turns out that we managed to lose all of those jobs without actually ever entering a recession which is defined as two consecutive quarters with shrinking GDP. GDP only shrank in one quarter. Also it was not only announced that only 32,000 jobs were produced in July but also that the number of jobs produced in May and June wasn't as great as originally announced. Even conservative economists are admitting that the Bush tax cuts just aren't going to produce long term stimulus. The unemployment rate is actually virtually meaningless as is some of the other statistics cited. Averages generally tell us very little. People who have very good paying jobs get very good raises, people who don't make as much get very little or nothing. Then the average still looks very good. In addition there aren't as many people employed now as under Clinton quite simply because there are still more unemployed discouraged workers than there were 4 years ago and these people aren't counted in the stats and the same percentage used today reflects more people because of population growth. Get your economic news somewhere besides Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and the Wall Street Journal, please. The Journal used to be reliable but they've become as bad at being Republican shills as Fox.
