Now we're getting some realism

This was an interesting read. The guy who originally came up with the "3.3 million" number said some things that I've been predicting for a while, and he clarified some things I had heard about offshoring last year, particularly, how many companies who are doing this are realizing the savings they expected, and how many are running into problems.

I thought it was particularly telling when he said that 50% of companies "don't know how to manage IT downstairs," and what makes them think they're going to improve anything by moving the work 8,000 miles away with a whole new culture? I think that is exactly the trap that many companies are falling into, though perhaps not the majority.

Overall, really liked the article. It really helped me get some perspective on this issue.
